LAKEWOOD, Wash. — The Lakewood police officer accused of embezzling more than $120,000 from donations for the families of four slain colleagues has been fired.
KOMO News reports that Lakewood Police chief Bret Farrar announced the firing of Skeeter Manos on Monday, about a week after he was arrested at the city hall.
Manos was charged in federal court with embezzling more than $120,000. Charging documents say he made purchases of several thousand dollars at Costco and Home Depot with the money, as well as gambling trips to Las Vegas and local casinos.
Prosecutors say Manos embezzled the money from about $3.2 million in donations that poured after four Lakewood police officers were shot to death in a coffee shot as they started their shift.

It is always important to be able to document and keep good records when you ask for and/or receive donations of money from the public for ANY cause. All legitimate NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS know the rules and are generally happy to publicly disclose the results of their fundraising efforts and where their donations are spent - even donations and the sales of token wristbands for the support of Karl Thompson that were so very fashionable around the public safety building. I heard a rumor those funds went to pay for expert witnesses. Fredericks, perhaps? Dunno.
See, this is how it’s done. Charge criminals with crimes (even if they are cops) and fire them (even if they are cops). Paying attention City Hall? How about you Tucker? Is this story on the television in the bar?
Can’t get any lower than Manos!
amazing how fast the wheels of justice works for some now if he stole from a citizen he would still be on the force no harm no foul.
In spokane they would have given him a salute and a bakers dozen of doughnuts. Left side folks have no sence of humor…or a guild.
How can you trust a cop named, “Skeeter? I don’t know I would have been suspicious right off the bat. Some pretty good police work though considering he wasn’t THAT greedy. He was probably buying shovels to aid in his other crimes. I like hearing those rope ‘em in stories–—just wish they were HERE.
